The exhibition presents the Nové Hrady region and the noble houses which helped to form it. Important transition periods when ethnic and language groups migrated are recalled. A typical example is the Buquoy era, which brought the influence of many European cultures to our region. The individual panels display information about parks, gardens and forest reservations, the development of education, science, economy, glassmaking and woodcutting as well as social life, theatre and literature.
Part of the exhibition focuses on important lords and ladies and famous authors, composers and society people. Two panels and several items recall the sad period of 1938 – 1945, which marked the end of peaceful coexistence in our town and region.
The exhibition also shows many interesting items, paintings, historical photographs and postcards lent to us by the Vienna Museum, the Nové Hrady Archive and the “Novohradská občanská společnost” society. The exhibition is supplemented by a multimedia presentation of photos and an amateur film showing Nové Hrady and places in the region during the Second World War.
